![]() On Saturday, September 28 law enforcement, fire and emergency medical operations for counties, communities and townships within our school district conducted a school bus crash drill. This is the third year that such a drill has been held in Price County. Park Falls Police Chief Scott Straetz organized this drill as an opportunity for the various emergency and law enforcement organizations to coordinate and practice how they would work together if a serious school bus crash should occur. It also gives an opportunity for school district administration to discuss plans in place and consider changes that will make our procedures in such an emergency better for our students and families. The drill used a number of our students as "victims" with varying degrees of "injuries" who were transported by ambulance to the hospital. One lucky student was chosen to be the injured student taken by helicopter for treatment. Based on my observations I believe the drill went very well in accomplishing its purpose. Our school district, at 750 square miles, is the largest by area in the state covering parts of three counties. Having the opportunity for the many units that could be involved to coordinate their activities is valuable in preparing for an accident we hope never happens. Thank you Chief Straetz for organizing this drill that ultimately benefits our students' safety!
